Information for Parents

Moving to secondary school can be quite worrying for everyone and often parents wonder what they can do to support their child to achieve the best they can.

In the Inclusion Department we give students the best encouragement we can for them to achieve their potential. We are always happy to listen to parents concerns and try to help as much as possible.

One of the key areas in which young people can improve their achievements in school is by reading and research shows that young people who enjoy reading do better at school, and that parents play a key role in helping develop this love of reading.

Ok, encouraging a teenager to read is not always easy! However research shows that parents who talk to their children about books, TV programmes and films actually help them to have an interest in reading. Having books, newspapers and magazines around the home also makes a difference to help reading.
